Earth, 4.6 billion years, in sections

The top bar is the whole of it. Tap a period and the blue window settles on it and it opens as a line of its own; tap again and it closes. Drag the window’s ends and the line below follows; they click onto a period’s edges. A line that has nothing more underneath, and that is the point. Drag the copper marker, or tap a dot, for the year. The faint tail behind a dot is where the thing probably began, before the oldest evidence of it.

Pull a section down, then tap a dot.

The sections are cut where the evidence changes kind, and each bar says what it is known from. The marks are the deep-time events (../stories/deep-time-events.json, seventy of them, written and checked in October); tap one, then More. Hazen's The Story of Earth for the colours and the chunks.
